we really like this bench we needed extra seating and this fit great by our front window. we bought the bright green custom chair pad and it looks great with a couple of throw pillows we already had. it is sturdy enough for two people and is comfortable to sit on during a party. we don't use it daily, but the cats love to snooze on it since it is open in the back and by a big window. working great for our needs. Nice option Have only had this bench a short time but am happy with it so far. Found it much more comfortable than the bench with the conversation set. April 22, 2011
Great Outdoor Furniture!! This product looks great and was very easy to assemble. In the directions it does tell you for protection that it should be sealed with a polyeurothane! MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO THIS! (I recommend a clear semi-gloss) If you do this it will look better than it did in the store. For any wood that sits outside it needs protection from all of the elements, sun, rain, snow, hail, kids. I was formerly a painter so it comes natural to do it. I put 3 coats of poly on every piece front and back and it sat out all winter in Chicago without a cover and with some pledge and a rag it looks brand new. Great product!!! April 11, 2011
Nice bench -- especially for price Appreciate a full line of matching pieces available. April 10, 2011
Good Solid Outdoor Chairs Solid chairs. Easy to put together. Attractive with clean, simple lines. We'll see how they last through a New York winter but seem to be good quality for a good price. June 19, 2010
Nice Bench with Great Lines I bought various pieces of the Catalina Collection. I bought this bench from the dining set and the two arm chairs to create the 5 piece set that is sold with white cushions. The Dining Bench and Chairs are a little smaller and the backs are more upright making them feel more sturdy. I went to two stores and sat in all of them. My 10 year old daughter and I put the bench, two chairs, two end tables and the coffee table together in less than an hour and a half taking breaks. In fact, she put the tables together herself and I just tightened the nuts. Needless to say, anyone can do this. All pieces were well secured in the boxes and each one came with one extra set of pieces, so there was no chance I would be short of anything. If you weigh over 200 pounds, I would be careful about sitting down hard or standing on the bench. I am not sure the slats are strong enough for very heavy people. My husband and I did sit on the bench together and we probably weigh 360 pounds together. All in all, my patio looks great and we now have an outside room to enjoy. May 13, 2010
Do not buy in a sunny, arid environment! We bought a full set of Catalina chairs and bench 2 seasons ago with a different table. This year, it is all headed to the wood pile. DO NOT buy this if you live in a sunny or arid environment (NM, AZ, CA). The wood fades incredibly quickly, continually dries and shrinks (requiring constant tightening) and eventually splits. I should have taken the hint when the first bench we brought home promptly split at a key seam after only 2 weeks outdoors and returned the lot. Our furniture" was in partial shade all day, stored in the winter, and I treated the wood twice in the past 2 years. Every piece has completely fallen apart. I am shocked at the low quality for the price we paid. We "invested" over $600 on our set only to be sourly disappointed in the furniture. March 18, 2011
