The Story Behind It

The Benefits of Bamboo

Found throughout Asia, Bamboo is not a tree but actually a type of grass-one of largest in its family. Prized as being one of the fastest growing plants in the world, bamboo plants can grow up to 47 inches in a single day, and up to 80 feet at peak height. Bamboo quickly re-grows after being harvested without replanting, making it a wonderful source of renewable wood.

Bamboo has a variety of uses, from food to medicine, and building materials to textiles. We love bamboo not only for its eco-conscious qualities, but also for its density and durability in a broad range of household items. Bamboo is great in the kitchen, especially in the form of utensils like the classic bamboo rice paddle and cutting board. It can even be woven to create lovely trays, baskets and other serveware. Bamboo can also be used to craft beautiful vases, wind chimes and other home ornaments. As the Chinese symbol for longevity, your bamboo-crafted items are sure to endure everyday use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful "desert wind" Chimes ! We have had these up now for almost 2 years & we enjoy the sound tone they give off. I only take them in when it gets too windy, which is not often. I have introduced them to our other wind chimes & they all make the most beautiful music together. They are all very soothing & welcome here. Thank you for offering the Capiz Windchimes to us. (PS My friend also has them in her home-and yes we are all in harmony :)) November 5, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sweet sound I purchased three capiz windchimes for my bedroom. The air from the vent blows through the chimes and the sound is beautiful and quite calming. Not too loud at all and they look great! March 29, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love this wind chime!! Bought this in the store on a whim and am going back into town today to get another one to hang outside the bedroom window. Such a pleasant soothing sound..everyone who has heard it has commented how much they like it. November 4, 2008
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great inexpensive purchase I love this windchime. It has the quintessential summer windchime sound - absolutely perfect. Somehow, it manages to keep itself untangled. I have had to help it a couple of times but it took me less than two minutes to take care of. I used a 40% off coupon for this and so I believe I got a real deal! July 22, 2008

Rated 4 out of 5 by Very soft & relaxing I have this wind chime hanging in the bedroom and a slight breeze will make the shells "tinkle" against each other...this is very relaxing and is a soft sound. January 2, 2010
Rated 3 out of 5 by Beautiful, but easily tangled I couldn't wait to get this windchime home and display it on my front porch. It looked great, but then we got some pretty hefty winds for quite a while and let me tell you this thing got so tangled it took me forever to untangle it the first time. The second time it wasn't even worth trying. Plus, the shells broke relatively easily. Too bad because I loved this windchime. Next time I buy one I will take other reviewers advice and hang it under the vent. June 22, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Cute but I dont have a balcony The one in the picture looks like a combo of coffee and ivory shells. Mine is all ivory. I dont have a porch or balcony, so I had it hanging on an iron lantern hook, which sits on the floor. Not long after, I replaced with a larger capiz pendent I got elsewhere for a bargain. So now it has no place to go. I tried the doorway, dont like the look plus it hangs too low. I have horizontal blinds on my windows, so that doesnt look right. That only leaves the ceiling, but where? The corner? Havent found just the right spot yet...to be contd. Its pretty and I dont regret buying it, just doesnt have a place in my apartment. June 5, 2010
