Brown Herringbone Jute Sleevetop Curtain 5 5 1 1
Color Is Better Than Online Product Image I've owned the same WM product in the color Natural for over a year and had been eyeing the Brown for a sale price. I'd been hesitating because the online product photo for the brown made it look overly yellow. But the price was too good so I went for it and as it turns out, both online colors look different compared to what they look like in person, but in my opinion they both look better in person than online. On multiple monitors, the brown appeared to have a strong yellow undertone. In person, it's not nearly as yellow, but it's also not a rosy brown either, in case anyone was hoping. The Brown ones aren't hung yet but I've included a picture of the Brown color next to the Natural and the background is the World Market Basket-Weave Jute Rug in the natural color. I hope this helps those of you who might be on the fence about ordering these panels. I'm quite happy with both colors. Just some observations about these jute fiber curtains... 1) They have a slight chemical odor initially but it dissipates. My Natural color ones have been hanging over a year and I can't smell them anymore. 2) The herringbone is a heavier, tighter weave than other lighter weight burlap/jute drapes so it doesn't let as much light in and one can't see through them from outside. 3) They are Dry Clean ONLY for a reason. Do not wash. They will shrink (read below). 4) Takes some work/time to get the creases out from when they were folded in the packaging...I spritzed and steamed on the ironing board... a lot. I used a hot steaming iron on the jute and a cool setting for the lining. By the way, pay attention to the heat settings, unlike me, and avoid the lining when the iron is set to high. It's polyester and it doesn't take long to melt. Getting the wrinkles out is how I learned these things shrink a lot. I was tired of spritzing 9 panels so I thought I'd wet one of the panels more thoroughly by doing just a cold rinse cycle in the wash, plus I thought it'd help the odor. I layed it out to dry after the water was spun out (so heavy) and then ironed when it was damp and when I hung it, I found it had shrunk up above the lining, as well as then being shorter than the other panels. Oops. Learn from my mistake and do not submerge, soak, or spin them. January 26, 2015
