Rated 2 out of 5 by wgzn very solid. attractive. but WAY too TALL
for an occasional or decorative desk. this product would be superb. very solid for it's light weight and a reasonably timeless design. HOWEVER, i would not recommend it as a daily work surface. here's why:
i bought two of these and thought they were fantastic. UNTIL i got them home, set up and rolled my office chair up to them. even at full seat height (i'm 5'9" and that left my feet just barely touching the floor) i still had to reach my arms up to get to the surface. which is no big deal for a few minutes here and there. but VERY UNCOMFORTABLE for prolonged use.
common ergonomic practices say that a desks surface for a person around 6' tall, should be about 29". many modern designers argue that that should be closer to 27"
this base is 29.5". add 1.5" for the top and you're at 31"
i'm currently talking to a local metal fabricator about getting them cut down 3.5".
