Works, but rusted quickly

Comments about Black Ripple Cast Iron Teapot:

I had this teapot for probably less than a month before it began to rust. I don't use it every day and I do not put it directly over heat when I make tea-we have a kettle for that. I had made it a point to wash and dry it shortly after each use to keep it in good shape, but it's still rusting around the opening and the edges of the lid. It's quite cute and serves its functional purpose, but I went ahead a gave it a "no recommendation" because I also have a different teapot from WM that hasn't rusted and I've had it for months now.

A great teapot at a great price!

Comments about Black Ripple Cast Iron Teapot:

I couldn't decide between this teapot and a pretty blue one when I got the store, so I got both. It is so reasonably priced, has enamel lining to prevent rust on the inside, and it is plenty big enough for two large cups of tea. I've been using it daily for the past month and even without the teapot warmer, it keeps my tea warm for at least an hour. It is easy to clean and has a nice, large infuser basket. It is just what I was looking for !

Exactly what I was looking for

Comments about Black Ripple Cast Iron Teapot:

Excellent size for two cups of tea, and fits perfectly under my Keurig for hot water dispensing. I've used it on the gas stove as well to heat the water to simmer for steeping. Seems well made and solid, lid fits nice and the basket appears durable as well. Heavy cast iron retains heat and is ceramic coated inside.

Great teapot

Comments about Black Ripple Cast Iron Teapot:

I love this teapot and also bought the iron pot warmer with a candle from World Market for it to sit on. This teapot is larger than most and very easy to clean. I never put it directly on my stove, but instead pour boiling water into it. This is a great find. I even purchased one for my son and daughter-in-law.

Great Product - Very Pleased

Comments about Black Ripple Cast Iron Teapot:

This kettle is adorable, and very functional. The size is actually perfect for me - it's bigger than it looks - I can fill my large cup (~16oz) twice from it.

I received mine as a gift about 9 months ago - I wasn't sure at first if it was seasoned or enameled, but after a close look, I was pretty sure it was enameled and have treated it as such. I use it pretty much every day, and have never had any peeling/rust problems. I do heat the water in it right on the stovetop (electric burners), and I leave the tea in it until I finish drinking it - sometimes, that's not even until the next day. Even when I wash it, I don't dry it - I just leave the lid off and let it air dry, and it is often in continuous use for days before it gets washed/dry.

I'm not sure I would have made this purchase for myself if I had read the reviews first - I am so glad my sister bought one for me or I may never have gotten one. I really don't know what the cause of some people's problems with this item have been - maybe there was a bad batch that wasn't properly enameled, or maybe someone stuck theirs in the dishwasher? I simply haven't experienced any of these problems.

The way I use mine: I put in the tea leaves and water, turn the burner on high, and watch the pot until it comes to the very beginning of a simmer. Then, I turn off the burner (again, electric), put the lid on the pot, and let it steep right on the burner. You will quickly get the timing right to avoid boil-overs.
