Rated 5 out of 5 by Great gifts! I ordered two Black Bodum Brazil French Press coffee makers and gave them as gifts. My friends absolutely love them! December 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A pleasure to use! At first I bought the World Market brand 8-cup coffee press, but it started rusting and was very cheaply made. So I returned it and replaced it with this one for only a few bucks more. It is so much better than the WM press! It feels like time and effort was put into engineering it. I really like the fact that the lid and the handle are made of plastic... plastic does not get as hot. Also, the lid stays in place when you are pouring coffee... it does not turn in place because of the way the handle fits into the lid. Thought was put into design of the glass too... it is easy to clean out the used grounds with a large wooden spoon (which I got at WM for like $2-3)... the curvature of the glass at the bottom makes it easy to scoop out most of the grounds. I am careful with this coffee press... that is why I use a wooden spoon to stir the coffee and to clean out the grounds. I preheat the glass with some hot water from the tap before I brew the coffee too. I also try not to put the hot glass under cold running water when I'm cleaning it... I think that is how I broke my previous press' glass. I am also surprised by how effective this press is at not allowing any grounds through... the filter unit has a snug fit into the glass. This press is fun for me to use. Very good quality and design... easy to use and pleasing to the eye. Night and day difference compared to the WM 8-cup press! It is a great deal price wise as well! If mine eventually breaks, I'll buy the same one again. December 22, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very happy with my Brazil Bodum I have had a similar Bodum for many years and the plastic holder finally began to crumble. I was unsure whether to buy the much more expensive metal one, or this Brazil. Some of the reviews were a bit negative saying that the grounds came through the mesh and that it seemed flimsy. When the Brazil came on sale at 50% off and free shipping I decided I hadn't much to lose! I am delighted with it. It is quite sturdy and I have no trouble with grounds. Perhaps that reviewer didn't use the right grind. Anyway, I would have been quite happy to have paid the regular price for it and recommend it as just as functional as the more expensive metal press. Rated 3 out of 5 by Just OK Originally had the Chambourd model and it was great. But carafe broke, so I thought this model would be more protective - and it is. But coffee grounds seep through MUCH more than the Chambourd. I'll keep as a backup and will replace carafe for the Chambourd. March 23, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Do Not Waste Your Money I bought this to replace my small 10 year old press. I bought the Brazilian because it is about $20 cheaper than the Chambourd model. I will be returning it for the more expensive model because the press is falling apart after only two months. Spend the extra money and buy the all metal version. August 16, 2012
