Perfect for lining my compost bucket

By

Comments about Biodegradable Compost Bags, 25-Count:

I love love love these bags! I travel quite a bit so I'm not home to dump our compost bin everyday. Unfortunately my husband was putting citrus rinds in the compost pail and it was starting to rust on the inside. I found these at World Market and love them (and buy them when I have a discount coupon). I started using these about a year ago and when I find bits and pieces of the bag left in my compost bin I toss it into the other bin to break down. I'm really impressed with how quickly the bag breaks down in the bin.

For those that complain that it doesn't fit their bucket -- I tie the loose ends around the top of the bucket into a knot so it keeps the bag in place. When you're dumping stuff into that's heavy, the bag doesn't fall down. When I dump it in our composter (albeit a bit liquidy at the bottom) I leave the bag tied as it is (don't tie it again and leave it the way I had it tied around the lip of the pail) so that the food inside has a chance to escape from the bag in the compost tumbler.

Comments about Biodegradable Compost Bags, 25-Count:

These are ok if your just putting small things in your compost bin but you start putting things like asparagus ends and what not it punchs right through the bag. They also brake down very easy if there it much liquid in the bag. But on the other hand they do help keep the bucket cleaner that it would be with out a bag at all so its kind of a six of one half a dozen of the other situation.

Comments about Biodegradable Compost Bags, 25-Count:

We bought the red, metal compost bucket from World Market (the one with the tomatoes on the front), and bought these bags at the same time. The bucket capacity is: 7.5"Dia. x 12.5"H; 5-liter. Yes, the bag hangs over by at least three inches, but you could alter that if the edge of the bag showing is bothersome to you. I find it helpful to have at least some of it folded over to keep things tidy when filling the bucket. Also, please know that, depending on the composition of your contents, the bag may leak when removed from the bucket. That has happened a couple of times (we bought three boxes of liners, so not too often) and always when the contents were more "wet." I definitely will purchase these again.

Makes it Easy to Collect My Kitchen Scraps

Comments about Biodegradable Compost Bags, 25-Count:

I use these bags to line a small, kitchen garbage can that I use just for egg shells, fruit peelings, stems, tea bags - all those things that can go into my compost pile. It is a handy way to transport the waste out to the compost. I couldn't go without them!

Thought these would fit the compost bucket

Comments about Biodegradable Compost Bags, 25-Count:

I bought these in the same transaction as my new ceramic compost jar assuming they would fit. Perhaps I overlooked the size (3 gallon), but I don't remember there being a choice. These are way, way too big. With the bottom of the bag at the bottom of the jar, the overhang nearly covers the whole jar. It defeats the purpose of buying something pretty to look at. (I do like the jar.) You can't even roll them up or tie because the circumference of the bag is double that of the jar. I am too far away from World Market to exchange and it's not worth the cost to return in the mail. Too bad, because the jar doesn't empty completely without rinsing and the bag would have made the process effortless.
