Why We Love It

In the ancient folklore of many cultures, wells were considered sacred places inhabited by deities. People would visit wells to ask the gods to grant their wish, thereby becoming known as 'wishing wells'. If your wish is for the serene sound that can only be created by wooden chimes, let it be granted by our Bamboo Wishing Well Windchimes. The sustainable bamboo chimes produce a low, soothing musical whistle when blown by the wind.

The Story Behind It

The Benefits of Bamboo

Found throughout Asia, Bamboo is not a tree but actually a type of grass-one of largest in its family. Prized as being one of the fastest growing plants in the world, bamboo plants can grow up to 47 inches in a single day, and up to 80 feet at peak height. Bamboo quickly re-grows after being harvested without replanting, making it a wonderful source of renewable wood.

Bamboo has a variety of uses, from food to medicine, and building materials to textiles. We love bamboo not only for its eco-conscious qualities, but also for its density and durability in a broad range of household items. Bamboo is great in the kitchen, especially in the form of utensils like the classic bamboo rice paddle and cutting board. It can even be woven to create lovely trays, baskets and other serveware. Bamboo can also be used to craft beautiful vases, wind chimes and other home ornaments. As the Chinese symbol for longevity, your bamboo-crafted items are sure to endure everyday use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Didn't Last I loved the sound of the chimes. Unfortunately, the bamboo split easily and the glued areas came apart. I've tried gluing it back but the top is holding too much weight from the remainder of the unit and keeps coming apart. I gave up. August 18, 2010
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not of good quality [...]. The [...] wind chime arrived with the top of the room detached from the well due to poor glue quality [...] I suggest if you purchase this, do it in store, and NOT online! July 7, 2011
