The Story Behind It

The Timeless Design of the Classic Adirondack Chair

Occasionally used as a verb, "Adirondacking" describes picnicking with Adirondack chairs for seating. Popular since their inception in 1905 when they were known as "Westport plank chairs," Adirondacks are known the world over for their comfortable, sturdy and chic design. The casual elegance of the Adirondack chair is a classic World Market favorite; its sleek and simple high back and wide arms make it a perfect spot for cozy sunset watching or enjoying BBQ and a beverage while sitting back and relaxing.

A delightful complement to many of our outdoor furniture collections, our Classic Adirondack Collection boasts a broad color palette including natural wood hues, blues, greens, purple, yellow, orange, red and antique white. Pick up a matching end table and stool to complete this classic ensemble. Or, for an updated take on this enduring style, discover our Coastal Adirondack Chair, featuring a chunkier profile and the same timeless appeal as our classic version.

This is my fourth one:-) I use this for my Patio. I just ordered another so then I will have four.I have different colors and Friends who come to visit love my decor:-) June 16, 2011
Very Nice Chairs! I just purchased two of these chairs and the table from my local World Market because I didn't want to risk buying online before checking them out. I'm a 54 year-old grammy and putting these chairs together was a cinch. They are very comfortable and built well. I plan to purchase at least two more and matching stools for our lake house [...] July 6, 2009
Comfy Chairs Love this chair. Have two on our screen porch. Gave two as a gift for outdoor summer home use. Tried adirondacks from LL Bean; flat backs, uncomfortable, returned them. The World Market ones have a curved back that cradle you and make you RELAX! And they are less expensive! June 29, 2008
Worth it!, Let me tell you!, Of course the paint will start to flake after a while, they are outside, duh!!! Anyway with a little TLC, they will be back to pristine condition. People!, things do not last forever. These chairs are a good buy, I would buy them again. Dave from San Francisco,Ca, the fog is here a lot. July 13, 2011
Nice, comfy -- pretty much satisfied I went into the store this weekend looking for a decent (not flimsy) set to put on my good size deck and enjoy the space while the weather was cooperating. There was NOTHING available in a set. It was as if a swarm of locusts had settled on the store and bought everything worth buying. I had not planned on an adirondack set but it was one of the few things available in a set of 2 with a matching table. The chairs because of their slant need a good amount of space. I am quite happy with the crispness of the white. I was irritated by the paint and the fact that the parts had been painted after the holes for the screws had been drilled. Screwing the parts together with a regular Philips was a complete pain. Once the chairs were assembled however I was completely happy with the comfort and quality of the furniture. Definitely worth the sale price. July 3, 2011
Screws Too Big for the Holes We bought two adirondack chairs, two stools and one table. I put together one of the chairs last night and it was a cinch. The second one was a much different story. The screws appear to be too big for the holes and I couldn't tighten them, even with a drill! I will have to return the one chair and hope I get one that's as easy to put together as the first. The one that is together looks nice and is definitely comfortable. Now on to the stools and table... June 9, 2011
Awesome Chairs for a Fantastic Price My husband and I had been on the hunt for well-priced, white wood Adirondock chairs for months. We checked many websites and stores and most chairs were priced over $200. When I found these chairs on sale at Cost Plus for under $100, I was stoked! We bought 2 white chairs and 2 stool (you MUST get the stools as well). They were so easy to put together (all parts were numbered), all you need is a Philips head screwdriver and you're set.
