Nice umbrella, tomato red as in photo. Very good value. Color is strong vibrant red, matches the WorldMarket seat cushions. Difficult to open without decent arm/hand strength. No bad smell here! Very happy with purchase. June 12, 2012
Horrible chemical smell. All our sun umbrellas were ALWAYS from World Market and they were always perfect, attractive, strong and beautiful. This year they changed so much, instead of nice canvasy feeling fabric this year you get the flimsy cheap thin polyester fabric. The color name stayed the same from the other years but the color did change and became more fire tomatoe like, nothing to do with Pompeian RED This is not the worse of all - worse of all is smell. Apparently this umbrella must have been treated for pest or mold. It smells HORRIBLE. Once we took it out of the box and the plastic bag the smell became so strong that we had to take it immediately out of the house since it smelled like it was sprayed with roach killer or osmething of this kind. I was hoping hte smell will go away once outside but apparently 24 hours later the smell was just as strong as the minute we got it. My husband took it down and hosed it totally inside and out hoping it will help but apparently the water repellant worked and no water did go through the fabric so no results regarding the smell. It is few days later, we can't sit under this umbrella as it has such a strong odor that seem sto be falling right on our heads from this umbrella and gives us an itchy faces and heads that I have no idea if it will ever go away. This umbrella goes back tomorrow and I am going to buy from different store as I suppose all their umbrellas will have the same issue. I think it is horrible that they do allow such a chemical treatement for this item and apparently nobody cares what goes into it. I wish someone could test this stuff and I am sure it might be even not that people friendly. Buyer beware! beware big time! May 25, 2012
