Avocado toast and sweet potato toast are the reigning toast trends of the moment, but these three dessert toasts deserve a try! This way, you can eat your dessert for breakfast—and who wouldn’t want that?
Let’s talk about the bread itself for a moment. I choose a simple, sweet Texas Toast due to its thickness, but you can mix it up and put these dessert toasts onto any type of bread you have such as rye, challah, whole grain wheat, or sourdough. And you can mix it up with the toppings, too! With loaded toasts, everything is simply a suggestion and can be added or subtracted. The possibilities are endless!
Strawberry & Balsamic Ricotta Toast
First up? My favorite! Strawberry & Balsamic Ricotta Toast. I toasted the bread before spreading a thick layer of Ricotta cheese on top. Then I layered the sliced strawberries before drizzling World Market’s Fig & Orange Balsamic Vinegar over them and then finished with a pinch of brown sugar.
Nutella S’mores Toast
Next, you have to splurge and eat this Nutella S’mores Toast on an autumn Sunday morning. It goes great with a hot cup of coffee and the newspaper. For this one, I toasted the bread and spread a layer of Nutella. I then sprinkled some graham cracker crumbs on top for crunch before piling on the mini marshmallows. I used my kitchen torch to brown the marshmallows, but if you don’t have one, you can easily pop the toast into your broiler for 10-15 seconds. Just be sure to keep your eye on it so the marshmallows don’t burn!
Peaches & Mascarpone Toast
Finally, this Peaches & Mascarpone Toast is decadent! The bread is toasted and smothered with a sweetened Mascarpone cheese. Simply stir 1/3 cup of sifted powdered sugar into your Mascarpone cheese and mix to combine. I then topped it with sliced peaches, a drizzle of honey, and a handful of chopped walnuts.
