I’m back and excited to share the details of my Retro Baking Dessert Table! The easy part? I’ve got tips and product suggestions for saving time (and sanity!) with a combination of boxed and ready-made sweets, as well as multi-use decor.
When styling an entire dessert table, it can be difficult to make every single item, especially when you are responsible for the rest of the party planning. So I always mix up the offerings with a variety of items that will cut down my prep time, work beautifully on the table and serve multiple functions. I decided to try the Jaz Sticky Toffee Cupcake Mix decorated with Mistletoe Holiday Cupcake Toppers, which were the perfect supplement to the homemade cake. In addition to the cake and cupcake display, I also utilized the most adorable Holiday Cupcake Carrier Gift Box, which can double as a take-home gift or favor.
I get a thrill from a creative presentation and I found just that with the Jaz Peppermint Latte Mug Cake Mix, baked directly in Coupe Mugs in the microwave. With just a little buttercream frosting applied with the Star-Tip Frosting Bottle to resemble whipped cream, a sprinkle of Crushed Peppermint Candy and the insertion of a Hammonds Peppermint Cocoa Stirrer, your guests will get a kick out of these clever treats.
And finally, I added in some ready-made gourmet items, such as Miss Peppermint Crush Meringue Cookies, Bahlsen Grandessa Dark Chocolate Gingerbread and Hans Freitag’s Desiree Wafer Cookies to the assortment. Similar to the cupcake box, I utilized the precious Holiday Milk Carton Treat Box on the table, which can also double as a favor or to-go box once the party’s over!
Another key component to my styling technique revolves around the use of display items that will not only serve a purpose on the table and accentuate the design, but can also be practical in the future. After all, I love saving money just as much as saving time! This is perfectly depicted in my use of the Retro Metal Basket displaying the mug cakes, the Vintage-Style Metal Kitchen Scale holding the meringues and the Car with Holiday Tree Cookie Jar providing the perfect serving dish for cookies. Not only did these items add style and varying dimension on the table, but they are all products I will continue to use and therefore, can feel good about investing in them. The final touches on the table include small embellishments, consisting of decorative details achieved with twine, Holiday Stripe Parchment Paper and a small banner made from clever Holiday Kitchen Gift Tags!
With a mixture of homemade goodies with a sprinkle of boxed sweets and a pinch of ready-made treats, your holiday dessert spread is sure to stir-up plenty of cheer for your guests, providing the perfect opportunity to whisk them a Merry Christmas!
