Coffee Brewing Method: The Toddy



The Toddy Maker involves a cold coffee brewing system. A Toddy brew makes a great glass of iced coffee—simply pour the brew over ice and enjoy as is or add milk or cream (and sugar, if that’s your cup of you know what).

Body: Stronger than your favorite cup of brewed coffee, but much less acidic.

Grind: Coarsely-ground coffee.

-Insert the stopper into the bottom of the Toddy Maker. Slightly wet the filter and insert it into the bottom of the brewing container.
-Add 1 cup of water into the bottom of the Toddy Maker and roughly 6 ounces of coarsely-ground coffee. Pour 3 more cups of water over the grounds, making sure to pour slowly and in a circular motion. Then, add the remaining ground coffee.
-Wait 5-7 minutes and slowly add the last 3 cups of water.
Do not stir. With the back of a spoon, simply press down on the grounds to make sure that the grounds are wet.
-Let the grounds steep for 12 to 24 hours.
-Remove the stopper and decant into your preferred glass container.
-Serve hot or cold (over ice) and with cream or milk. Sweeten to your preference.
