3 Steps to An Organized (and Stylish) Desk

3 Steps to An Organized (and Stylish) Office - Discover, a blog by World Market

Hello! It’s Nina from the HSS feed and I’m here to talk about one of my home decor challenges and how I’m trying to tackle it.

We’ve finally set up my new office in our house and I’m determined to keep my desk clean and organized. I love a good, clean desktop because it not only keeps my work organized—it helps increase my productivity, too.  Here are a few of my tips to get you started on getting your desk in tiptop shape:

  • Start with a good base: A desk with ample storage space gets you off to a great start in getting organized. Two of my favorite styles are this wood and metal desk with great space for baskets (perfect for supplies and files) and this white desk with both closed and open storage spaces. Both desks also give you great drawer space for your computer components and supplies, like notepads, pens and envelopes.
  • Compartmentalize: Odds are that you won’t be able to get all of your work and desk essentials into your drawers, so it’s always good to have other options. I like to have an inbox paper tray to keep my must-dos all together, some magazine holders for a little inspiration (and as a place to keep my most used files), and boxes like these are great for organizing receipts and little things before they take over and create a mess!
  • Add a little style: I love adding a little pop of personality and color to my desk to keep things fresh, creative and interesting. If you’re like me, you spend a good bit of time at your desk so you want to enjoy it as much as you can. I love a good monogrammed paperweight to keep things in place and personalized, and this colorful jewelry stand is great to put your rings and watch while you’re typing away.
